| Traditional
shades are all made by stretching and hand stitching the fabric over the
frame. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Shade
Edging: |
All
traditional shades require a braid or bias on the edge of the frame to cover
the hand stitching. Please choose
from our selection of braid for scalloped edges. Some Braid comes with
matching fringes (these are noted in our "Trim and Bead samples"
catalogue). If not specified we will use our standard "best match"
trim/fringe to match the colour you have chosen for your shade. |

| Beads: |
|
Rather than
using fringes, you have the option of using beads instead, refer to the
pricelist and our "Trim and Bead samples" catalogue. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Bias: |
|
A
bias option is available on frames with straight edges. (a Bias is a strip of
fabric sewn around the edge of the frame). The bias can either be in the same
fabric, or in a complimentary fabric.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Fabrics: |
|
All
fabrics are "natural" to some extent, and are hence subject to
slight variations in colour etc from roll to roll. Some fabrics (like Raw
Silks, Indian Cottons etc etc) contain naturally occurring slubs, colour
shots and variations in texture. This should not be seen as a fault, rather a
feature of the natural product we are working with. |

| Suitable
Fabric: |
Not all
fabric is suitable for traditional shades, the fabrics in our swatch
catalogue are labelled as "traditional" if they are suitable. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Lining: |
|
Lining -
this is a fine layer of fabric used to lengthen the life of the shade, and
provide a denser look for lighter fabrics (diffuses the light coming from the
shade), it can be either cream (Tr-lineCr),
or white (Tr-LineWh) |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Fittings: |
|
If Euro
fitting (40mm ring holder), or American Fittings (10mm holder at top of
frame) are required, It will require a special frame to be hand made for your
customer. There is a charge for this shown on pricelist based on size of
shade. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Recovering Customer Frames: |
If
you client has an unusual or treasured frame they would like to get recovered
we are happy to do this. Customers frames are re-painted before re-covering. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Using Customer Fabric: |
For
Traditional shades we are unable to use taffeta. We recommend fabrics which
have a natural stretch. Some fabrics
are not suitable for traditional shades, please send a sample if you are
unsure. We will take all care, but if there are problems then our liability
will be limited to supplying the shade(s) in our (Best Match) fabric. A
fabric credit will be deducted from your invoice when using customers own
fabric to cover the cost of freighting the fabric to us. |
