How to get that Chandelier Sparkling again

How to get that Chandelier Sparkling again

Get that Chandelier Sparkling again

Discover our simple and effective tips geting your chandelier back to its orginal glamour

Replace Broken or Chipped Candle Effects

These are usually a plastic sleave with fake dripping candle wax. Due to the heat of the lightbulbs these break down over time.  Cracked and broken candle effects can make any chandelier look tired and old.  Changing your lightbulbs to LED will make these last twice as long

  • TIP: You need to measure the inside diameter - ie between the plastic and match with option available on our website.  These can be cut down if too tall. Click here to see all our sizes

Change your Lightbulbs to LED

These now look very similar to the orginal candle type lightbulb, especially when they are lit. You can now get frosted or clear lightbulbs in both warm or cool colouring

By changing to LED it reduces the heat around the chandelier, which over time reduces the breaking down of the candle effects and wiring.   It will also save you so much time getting up and down the ladder as LED bulbs last 20,000 hours whereas incandescent (standard) bulbs  are only 1,000 hours, that's 19 less times up the ladder

Cleaning - its got to be done..

Cleaning a chandelier use to be a time-consuming and delicate task, but now its so much easier using a Specialised Chandelier Cleaner.  No more taking off each crystal, just spray on then rinse off.

Simple steps to clean your chandelier:

  • Turn off the power: Before starting make sure to TURN OFF the power to the chandelier to avoid any electrical hazards.
  • Gather supplies: You'll need a few supplies, including a step ladder, drop cloth to catch drips and overspray, soft cloth, glad wrap, a spray bottle of water, bucket of warm water with mild dish soap and your chandelier cleaner spray.
  •  Remove any lightbulbs and chandelier cups (if possible).  Clean cups in bucket and leave to dry, cover light sockets with glad wrap or toilet roll. Wipe your lightbulbs down you will be surprised how much dust gets on them
  • Spray cleaner spray generously until the chandelier is dripping wet (avoid spraying into lightbulb socket)
  • Spray with Clean water -  KEY PART (I tried to cheat by not doing this once and it doesn't work)
  • Dry excess water with a clean cloth and allow to dry thoroughly, you may find heavily soiled crystals will need a second application
  • Once the chandelier is completely dry, reattach any removable parts like crystals cups or bulbs.
  •  Finally, let it dry for a bit then turn the power back on and enjoy your sparkling clean chandelier!
Short on Time - For a quick clean when you are short on time
  • Just take off the crystal cups and wash these with soapy water, you will be surprised how much of a difference this 3 minute job can make
