FAQ's - Frequently asked questions

Is it a real Tiffany ?
Tiffany refers to Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), known as the world's greatest designer and manufacturer of art glass.
These are re-production items which now use tin and copper foil rather than lead to create the glass shades. They are all individually hand made by skilled artists in China.

What are they made from ?
Each leadlight is made by hand with individual pieces of glass and the bases are made from a type of resin.

Are they all the same ?
All pieces are made by hand so not all are exactly the same.  The glass colour can slightly vary between individual pieces, making each one just that more unique.

Can you change the bases and shade around ?
The bases and shades come as complete sets and are packaged and made to go together.  We do not sell the bases or shades by themselves or swap them around.

Why do they feel oily on arrival ?
The glass shades may have an oily feel to them, the artists apply an oil after production to stop oxidation of the metal solder joints. It can also add a glossy finish to the glass.

How to clean the excess oil ? 
Wipe the shade gently with a soft microfiber cloth and a drop of mild dish soap mixed with warm water.  Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or ammonia, which ruin the metal solder and patinas.
Buff the dry glass with a small amount of lemon oil or mineral oil if you want to restore the shine to the metal lines without leaving a sticky film.

Returns & Refunds

We want you to love your purchase. We understand that sometimes an item may not look quite as you expected once it arrives in your home, so we offer a 14-day return period for online orders.

Your Purchase Isn’t Quite Right

For online purchases only, if your item is not quite right, you may return it within 14 days of receiving your order for a refund or store credit, provided the following conditions are met:

  • The item is unused, uninstalled, and in its original condition.
  • All original packaging, accessories and instructions are included.
  • Proof of purchase is provided.
  • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable.

Faulty or Incorrect Items

If your item arrives faulty, damaged, or you have received the wrong product, please contact us as soon as possible.  We will work with you to resolve the issue and, where required, arrange a replacement or another suitable solution.

For items damaged during delivery, please contact us for instructions.

Items We Cannot Accept for Return

The following items cannot be returned for a refund or store credit unless they are faulty:

  • Sale or clearance items.
  • Custom-made or specially ordered products.
  • Lampshades made specifically to your requirements.
  • Items that have been installed, used, altered, or are not returned in their original condition.
  • Items returned without original packaging.
